Government Directions

Like few other times in history, government decisions have been guided very significantly by medical science and contemporary health practice. There have been times of disagreement around what to do and when to do it as politicians, medicos and the community at large grapple with the uncertainty of the rate of spread and volatility of covid19.

To do

The latest direction from government is best known by going directly to the government app and website. States will have their own business-oriented websites, including Queensland.

In the meantime the unwavering top four directions from government and health authorities are for people to :

  • Observe social distancing of at least 1.5metres with one person per 4 square metres
  • Wash hands regularly and at length (2 x ‘happy birthday’ should do it) with soap
  • Act on limits to numbers of people at social gatherings as updated from time to time on government websites
  • Stay home if feeling sick, or even if you feel like you may feel sick
  • Stay at home to live, learn, work and play unless absolutely necessary for purchasing food, taking exercise and attending essential activities such as medical appointments

These limits have led to the closing down of workplaces deemed to break these limits. Current guidelines on directions affecting business closures are also matched with support measures for businesses.
